Paper Report For The Chapters One And Two Of The Book Peoples History Paper Report For The Chapters One And Two Of The Book People's History Of US: (1492 Peoples History of US: (1492 - Present) (Modern ic)-chapter one and two report Identify the central thesis of chapter one and two of Zinn. The two chapters under discussion explain about colonization: direct and indirect and of two different continents but by people from the same continent but who had different motives. The first chapter explains colonization of America (an indirect account of how it started) by Christopher Columbus. Columbus’ colonization on the Arawak was indirect and purely by accident but nevertheless he mistreated them (Zinn 19).The same chapter also provides examples of how other Europeans from different European countries also came to America after its discovery by Columbus and they started also colonizing the other Indians who were there mostly the Iroquois trying to change their ways of life and culture. They managed to disrupt their native culture leaving animosity behind (Johnston 29).Chapter though different is similar too. The colonization in this case is on the African countries happened in the same way where the Europeans wanted goods from Africa and they therefore enslaved them and brought back others as slaves with them and selling them in America to the white wealthy people to be their slaves and servants (Pickett and Dwayne 15).Those not taken as slaves were colonized. The question What makes me tick? , seemed a simple one at first, as we were just told to write about our hobbies and passions which I found illogical as this was meant to be a creative task. After some deeper thought and deliberation the idea hurtled toward me! It sent me into an uncontrollable spin, head first, down an endless well of alien self reflection. Have never pondered about the question of what makes me tick. I had to contemplate me, down to my core and all its numerous implications. It has certainly been an unorthodox road of adolescent self discovery. Just me in my room, encased in four walls, entombed in my thoughts, with a pencil in my hand and a weight on my head. Before knew it was in deep, deeper than I first thought possible. Realized this as was day dreaming, in my mind palace, in the midst of a house party. When my mind initially started working its gears and cogs pondering this question didnt know where to go mentally, until I had an epiphany. The thought of a clock in its simplest form made everything easier to understand because even though humans are infinitely more complicated than clocks we still have many similarities in how we both produce our ticks. Neither a clock nor a human can produce their tick without the necessary components and those very same components could not work without the stimulation of energy, and then it dawned on me, Before answering the question what makes me tick i have to know what my ticks are so what is my tick? What are my defining qualities? What does my hand move to the noise of? There isnt one single product like the movement of a hand or the changing of a number, humans are complicated. We do have what you could call components and a clear source of energy but answering what your tick is isnt such a simple task. I suppose you could say my tick is the production of creativity, concepts and connections which enable me create limitless possibilities, the opportunity to entirely pave the pathway to my future. More specifically some of my many, many ticks are an endless love for eating good food, Tech, traveling,Tv shows, Art in its many forms, education and an endless lust to succeed and obtain the obtainable . I dont just see food as function, as a mere source of energy but as an art form. Let needs to be enjoyed and consumed, for the unique pleasure that food alone can give. Nothing else compares to the way food stimulates all the menses. This appeal to the senses instantly evokes memories and whisks you far off, transporting you to a remembered world of time, place and people. Its our responsibility to be in awe of food and celebrate all that it is. Talk Traveling is what ever you make it, for me it is the idea of endless possibilities that await for the adventurer. Traveling excites me into a ball of euphoric anticipation awaiting anyone willing to break the seemingly inescapable mundane and the monotony of daily lifestyle, of familiarity and routines. The anticipation blinds us from the ecstasy of the present moment. Love to travel o seemingly alien worlds to leave everything behind, to discover, experience and explore the endless bounty that the world has to offer, and if done well discover myself again in the journey for self transcendence. Even though traveling can occur in a concentrated manner it can still change your entire perspective on life, broadening your mind and expanding your horizons . To me life is just one big adventure waiting for me to act, travel , explore and experience it. TOCK. The art Of cinematography is a beautiful mosaic comprised Of everything love. Through its many forms It can evoke every possible emotion pulling you onto a dream like state. If done well it releases you from the daily constraints and all of its burdens enveloping you in whatever world you desire at the flick of a switch. Igniting your childlike state of wonder, transfixing you in that moment and time making you feel whole as if this cinematography was the only tangible reality left. Just you and these fictional characters exploring the unexplored, immortalitys the most elusive thing, now thats why love TV. TICK Art and beauty in its many forms (in particular paintings) has had a firm hold since the day I was born transfixing me in its gaze, never ceasing to hold me n its aesthetic arrest. Ive had this searing passion permeate through my since i was single cell zygote . Waiting to bloom and flourish the moment was capable understand the dynamic event of beauty fully experiencing assimilating its perceptual vastness making time dilate because of the poetry of the moment. Clocks come in various shapes, forms and sizes but its components cant function if they do not have a reliable source of energy just as cant work unless have what some would call human energy. For me human energy is the fundamentals of one self the you that you cant change: your traits. The real you the part of you that does not change but just waits for you to wake up and find it. To assimilate and construct a permanent rendering of it. That is what makes me tick.

The first hand research for this topic will be carried out with a questionnaire designed and created by the members of the group and thereafter each part will be worked on and analyzed mutually. Many question why sex appeal is used so frequently in advertising, never becoming an outdated phenomenon of the past like so many other techniques. The study of consumer behaviour is very much connected with the area of psychology. Few people know that when being subjected to advertising they may be influenced on a far greater scale then they could ever imagine. The first aspect which must be taken into consideration is sex. In our current modernized lives where survival is a word used less frequently, many forget about the urges humans have inherited over thousands of years. Abraham Maslow’s diagram of the hierarchy of needs displays the ranking of necessities for human survival, â€Å"The basis of Maslows theory is that human beings are motivated by unsatisfied needs†¦Ã¢â‚¬  (Anon, 2007) It is observed that once a human fulfills a need, he then progresses to the next level to ultimately strive to reach the last level which is self actualization. The first level deals with physiological needs which encompasses breathing, food, water, sleep, homeostasis, excretions and last but not least, sex. This drive that humans have, which plays a fundamental role in survival, can help justify why marketing experts use sex appeal as a vital part in advertising their products. With this valuable knowledge, advertising professionals are able to reach their target customers on a subconscious level. The use of sex can be compared to shock advertisements such as those in anti-smoking or obesity campaigns. In terms of marketing, all publicity can be beneficial to the company so the main objective is to shock. Kandarp Baxi, the accounts director for Chase advertising states the following about the use of sex appeal; â€Å"There is little that the product is offering that is different from others. When technological differentiation is neither noticeable nor long-lived, you need to improve the intangible experience. Put simply, the attempt is to position them to shock† (Seth, 2005). Studies have shown that sex in advertising can generate feelings of happiness, risk-taking and pleasure all desirable traits for the distributor of the product. During a study at Stanford University, a group of male students were asked to look at revealing sexual images of women and were then given money to gamble with on a random chance game. Either a dollar or a dime could be won, though the chance of winning was always the same. The men who had looked at provocative images were more likely to make greater financial risks then those who were shown neutral images (office supplies) or scary images (snakes and spiders) which generally risked less. Brian Knutson, a psychologist at Stanford expresses â€Å"its all about the power of emotion and arousal and our financial decisions†¦ What really matters is that the sexy woman is having an emotional impact. That bleeds over into your financial decisions. (Borenstein, 2008) I’m sure many have experienced the need to buy when they are unhappy. This materialism is more prominent in consumers with lower self esteem. People that do not feel positively about themselves are generally more insecure and therefore try to fill this emptiness in their lives with products. Sex appeal in advertising can negatively impact the consumer which lacks self confidence as the overly styled images of beautiful and sensual faces act as bait. The more unhappy one is, the more one will depend on products and buyable commodities to ease this self doubt. A study conducted by researchers from the university of Illinois and Minnesota stated that â€Å"By the time children reach early adolescence, and experience a decline in self-esteem, the stage is set for the use of material possessions as a coping strategy for feelings of low self-worth. (Sato, 2007). The article also explains that a lot in terms of societal happiness has changed over the past 50 years, â€Å"Yet as societies become richer, they do not become happier. In fact, the First World has more depression, more alcoholism and more crime than fifty years ago. † Along with the need to earn more to be able to consume more comes a range of problems which use the consumer as their prime target. Compulsive shopping is a disorder continuously affecting insecure consumers. This sickness was discovered by German psychiatrist, Emil Krapelin and is â€Å"characterised by an irresistible urge to buy items that are either unneeded or unwanted†¦most compulsive buyers are young women who spend excessive amounts on clothing, shoes and makeup. † (Andreasen Et. Al, 2006) Here one can identify that these affected have self low esteem as they are purchasing mass amounts of products that have been designed and created to increase the physical appearance of the consumer. The bear would usually stay in a den or bury it self in the snow to avoid the suns ultra violent rays. Usually the pregnant female polar bear stays in the den.Food Chain-The polar bear finds its way on the top of its food chain. No predator on earth approaches the bear in size. When Connie meets the older boy in the resturant, she spends hours with him, and they went in an abandoned alley. Connie often states that she believes sex is a beautiful and fun feeling. Going with this stranger Connie has just met for hours implies she is sexually active in some way. What Oates is trying to say about young girls in general is that by showing off their bodies and meeting with older boys, sex will be pressured onto them. More young females will want to become more sexually active by assuming sex is all good and fun. Connie is scared. Connie does not seem to be afraid of anything. However, once this stranger appears at her house, she becomes a bit more frightened. Connie was always used to doing what she wanted with whomever she wanted. Along came Arnold, who commanded her to come to him and do things with him. Suddenly, Connie does not have the choice anymore. He threatens to harm her family so she is scared and cannot bring herself to even call for help. What Oates is trying to say about being scared is that one will not be scared until the option of deciding for one’s self gets taken away. Connie is deceitful. Connie’s mother often degrades Connie for being vain. Her mother does this because she is worried about Connie and knows Connie gets a great deal of attention from males. Connie’s mother knows what can happen to her if she does not start being careful. Connie still goes out grabbing the attention of boys even though her mother says otherwise. What Oates is trying to say is that children should always listen to their parents, or they may end up in danger. Oates tries to get the reader to understand that parents have been through it all, and children should learn to listen more. In the short story â€Å"Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? † Oates shows that Connie is sexually active. She is sexually active because she shows off her body and is curious about sex. Connie is scared because she had no choice in what she wanted to do. Connie is deceitful because she did not care or listen to her mother.

He personifies his soul- â€Å"the soul of Frankenstein†- and claims that his soul told him he would discover the secrets of the world. This quote plainly lays out Frankensteins ambition, his hubris, and his ultimate downfall. Frankenstein seems to suggest that his desire to be the greatest pioneer of science is an innate characteristic and a predetermined fate, thus removing any responsibility over his actions. Frankensteins desire to push beyond the limits of humanity is a flawed goal that sets him on a path of misery. Although he says that he is filled with â€Å"cowardice† and that he comes back â€Å"disappointed† and â€Å"ignorant,† this ignorance is what saves his life.
